Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

Colour: deep ruby red, with violet tones.

Aroma: spicy liquorice, aromas of small forests fruits, with light notes of vanilla, chocolate and faded rose.

Taste: full and rich bodied, with silky and elegant tannins. Long after taste finish, intense and persistent, with notes of mature red fruits and tobacco.

Note

Variety: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 100%. Vineyard: Castorani, within the estate, in the Municipal district of Alanno. Meters above sea level: 340 metres. Exposure: southeast. Training system: traditional overhead trellis system "pergola" of Abruzzo region. Yield per hectare: 8 t/ha. Soil: deep clay soils with rich texture. Harvest: by hand in the second half of October, accurate grape selection. Vinification: initial cold pre-fermentation maceration for 8 days at 7º C, followed by fermentation at 30º C. with frequent pump-over "délestages", and maceration for over 40 days in 50 hl vats. Malolactic fermentation: during maceration with skins. Ageing: first 12 months "sur lies" in oak barrels and next 6 months in vats. Bottle ageing: over 15 months. Alcohol volume: 13.5% vol.
